Week Seven - Discussion

Week Seven - Discussion

Q A nicely done video tour of Watts Towers (by Michael Jiroch, 4 minutes). To help us feel confident about the upcoming Field Trip Los Angeles project/presentation, in this week's discussion, for this week's first post I'm asking you to share a place and an accompanying emotion for that place. The only rules are that the place must be in Los Angeles. Just as with our assignment, you can choose anywhere in Los Angeles and any time in Los Angeles. In a paragraph or two, say enough for us to envision the place (and time) you are describing, and, help us understand why this location is emblematic of the emotion that accompanies it. You are the expert here. Tell us the where and why and - ta da - you've done this right. You are welcome to use this as an opportunity to test out your idea for the assignment (or ideas, if you want to share more than one place and emotion - though if you do, please be sure you write out your ideas, no lists, thank you!). And doing so is not a requirement. Then, by the end of the week, I ask that you come on back and reply to at least one of the posts made by a colleague with a few thoughtful sentences that dig deeper into the ideas they've presented. I hope that this will help inspire you to find just the right place to hone in on out of the many that are available to you! In the immortal words of Nice Guy Eddie from Reservoir Dogs, "We got places all over the place."

I generally love to express myself through words, and it seems a good opportunity for me to describe at least one place that I genuinely love in Los Angeles. Rather than that, I am really into star gazing, and that is why I just love Griffith's observation; the best part of this particular place is that it is completely free for the public. It can be observed that in the ground of this place there are so many telescopes and exhibits in this place. The main highlight of this place is the Zeiss telescope which is used to view the planets and moon. It can be said that this particular place is California's gateway to the Cosmos.
